Top BJJ fighters meet at ADCC 2011…

There are two super fights confirmed for the 2011 ADCC. For the main event for the 2011 ADCC, Strikeforce middleweight titleholder, “Jacare” Souza will face Gracie Barra BJJ fighter Braulio Estima.

The location for the ADCC tournament changes every 2 years and this year, it will take place on Braulio Estima’s “second-home” turf of England, where the BJJ black belt has opened his own Gracie Barra academies since he moved from Brazil.

The second superfight on the roster includes Renzo Gracie vs. Mario Sperry. The BJJ icon, Renzo Gracie, seeks to perform well against Sperry, and train enough for this fight and his return to MMA. Renzo is getting ready to get back in shape, and hopefully get back into the UFC. Sperry is a protégé of Carlson Gracie and highly regarded for his multiple ADCC and World Championship titles.

As for the Royler Gracie and Eddie Bravo superfight, it has been cancelled. The negotiations between legendary BJJ fighter Royler Gracie and the ADCC over Royler’s pay purse demands did not fall through. Eddie Bravo was set to fight the Gracie in the most anticipated rematch on the event’s roster. Bravo elevated his status overnight with his win against Royler at the 2003 event when he submitted the legend via triangle.

Other BJJ fighters in the event include OKC’s BJJ stars Rafael Lovato Jr. and Justin Rader. Rafael Lovato Jr. is the 2010 World Nogi Champion. He is working hard to prepare for this tournament. Justin Rader was able to get his invitation after his win at Grappler’s Quest in Las Vegas when he defeated Jeff Glover by points.
